Thinking of a wedding at home or on a private property? First and foremost, (even before setting a date!) we highly encourage couples to first have Total Events come out and do a site visit. Many people do not realize all the details that go into planning a wedding at their home so having the professionals take a look at the space will save you time and stress. There is much more that goes into "putting up a tent," when you’re considering an outdoor wedding. There are many factors to consider such as portable restrooms, accessibility for the caterer, lighting, access to electricity and water...just to name a few! Having Total Events come by and assess the feasibility of all of these factors will also help you figure out the budget and costs associated.
If you know you want a specific rental item, book it now! If you know that you are going to need chairs or would love speciality linens, reserve the items as soon as you know. There is no sense in waiting until you get closer to the date. You run the risk of missing out or the company might not have the inventory. Remember that your wedding is not the only event they have that day. Many companies are also planning corporate events, birthday parties, graduation, etc. Book before you have the chance to miss out!

DIY Tips: If you are planning to use rental items from Total Events and you do not have a day-of coordinator, please be sure to assign the task of rental inventory to someone on your team. Have a responsible person (that is not you!) available to check-in the items to make sure all that was ordered is delivered. Also, if there is a protocol for returning the items, be certain to let the person know. It is important that the venue and caterer know of any outside rentals that will be brought in or used for the day. Always communicate with your vendor team to make sure that there is no room for error or confusion.
