5 Reasons Why You Should Plan Your Event in the Off Season

As the warmer months roll around, so does event season! Event professionals scramble to create beautiful and meaningful affairs from May to October, planning and perfecting hundreds of weddings and events each season. Demand for peak times has only increased this year, making it even more difficult to get exactly what you need for your perfect day. Want to avoid the frustration that comes with settling for your second or third choices for your event needs? Consider planning your party in the off-season, which runs from November through March! Not only will your event be exactly how you envisioned,  you will enjoy all the amazing (and surprising!) benefits that come with it.

1. Supply and Demand

The more events being booked, the higher the prices will be. Booking your event in the off-season means less demand for event venues and vendors. Event professionals will have to work to sell their services during these months, meaning many will offer off-season rates or are willing to provide discounts that would be unavailable during peak times. However, before going into the conversation demanding discounts, try to approach the conversation politely.

2. Higher Quality Service

Since venues and vendors aren’t as busy during the off-season, they will have more time to focus on your event, meaning they’ll be less likely to overlook the little details. With packed schedules, some minor inconveniences are likely to occur during the summer and fall months. When winter and spring roll around, attention is fully on your event, ensuring that it goes off without a hitch!

3. Snow is better than rain

If the event industry could control one thing, it would be the weather! No matter how much we wish for the outdoor elements to end up on our side, the weather is unpredictable. When planning your outdoor event in the warmer months, rain is always a factor to be considered. This means creating a rain plan, which can completely change the look and logistics of your event at the last possible moment. In the winter months, the weather is more consistent and the hope for a fresh snowfall on your wedding day is simply magical.

4. Greater Availability

With less competition during the winter months, your top choice vendors and venues are more likely to be free on your event date. What is going to matter more, in the long run, is having your dream venue and vendor team that will make your entire event, over the time of year. Not to mention, your guests are also less likely to have prior commitments since there won't be as many seasonal vacations or other important celebrations for them to attend.

5. Lower Honeymoon rates

Let's be real, most people travel somewhere tropical and relaxing for their honeymoon. Planning your honeymoon in the winter makes it that much more exciting to get away from the cold. While some destinations peak in the winter and spring around school and holiday breaks, many locations will still offer cheaper flights and hotel rates depending on your dates.

Holding your event in the off-season isn’t for everybody but, for those open to the possibility of planning their event in the colder months, we promise your vendors will not disappoint! With the perfect team by your side and extra savings in your wallet, you’ll be raving to everyone about the perks of hosting an event in the cooler months.
