Monday Matrimony: Michelle & Greg

Like so many couples getting married today, Michelle and Greg had to abandon their wedding plan to have a destination wedding in Colombia where Michelle is from. With so many obstacles to navigate including, financial and COVID restrictions, she and her fiancé had no idea what to do. What they did know was that they wanted to tie the knot on their original date. Now determined to plan a new wedding from scratch, a friend of Michelle’s recommended Total Events, and after her first consult she immediately felt assured that she could pull off a “backyard wedding”.

“I cannot thank Total Events enough for helping us turn our wedding vision into reality. Due to COVID, we faced disappointment after disappointment. We didn't think our wedding was going to happen with the money we had left.”

Never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined getting married in her mother’s backyard. How could it possibly be elegant and memorable? There was so much Michelle didn’t know about creating an at-home wedding - tables, chairs, tent - but what else?  Thankfully, her worries were put to rest by the Event Specialist at Total Events who walked her through all the different scenarios, planned for various weather conditions and reviewed all the options.

“Total Events was very honest and transparent.  They told me some items that weren’t really necessary and others were must-have.”

 Michelle’s advice:

  1. Find a day of coordinator - eliminates all the unnecessary stress!

  2. Don’t hesitate to ask your guests to be mindful of COVID and CDC guidelines.  She asked her guests to limit their exposure two weeks prior.

  3. Get your family and friends involved “Everyone contributed and that made the day that more special.”

Michelle can now step into her mother’s yard to reflect on that magical day and say “I got married right here”, bringing new meaning to her family’s home. So many worked together to make Michelle and Greg’s wedding day the one they had dreamed of, even if it wasn’t the one they had originally planned. Her mother in law, a highly recognized artist, created her bouquet from paper and Healing Meals, a unique caterer, specialized in providing wholesome and healthy cuisine for the reception.

Ultimately, Michelle and Greg’s big day was a marvelous and stunning event! Every last detail was to the couple’s taste and perfect. Thank you both for letting the Total Events team help make your wedding day one that you will happily look back on for the rest of your lives together!

“Our Event Specialist, Tommie, was responsive, flexible, kind, professional, and just a pleasure to work with. She never made me feel like a bother and always made me feel like our wedding was her priority. Tommie completely redefined the phrase "backyard wedding." Our wedding was elegant and breathtaking. I forgot I was in my mom's backyard!

I'll never be able to thank Tommie and the Total Events team enough. They worked with us until the very last minute and made sure every detail was perfect. THANK YOU!”
