Venue Spotlight: Mabee Farm Historic Site

The Venue

Built in 1705, Mabee Farm is rooted in local history as the oldest farm located in the Mohawk Valley. The home on the property was originally built by Jan Mabee and has been handed down through the family for over 300 years. Today, the property is a part of the Schenectady County Historical Society where it is used as a museum and educational center for the local community. 

The historical farm comprises a 17th Century Dutch House, Inn, Brick Building, 1760 Dutch Barn, English Barn, and extensive nature trails. Generations of celebrations have been held on the property's great lawn and adjacent Dutch Barn, which provide plenty of space for friends and family to gather. The lawn is the perfect spot to hold a ceremony from Spring through the Fall with an abundance of blooming florals and greenery. Not to mention, the barn’s natural wooden beams and rustic charm make Mabee Farm a unique alternative to traditional venues. 

Our Signature Looks

One of our favorite aspects of this venue is that you are essentially starting with a blank slate and can customize everything about your event! Mabee Farm offers complete freedom when choosing your vendors and décor, as long as the property itself remains preserved. At Total Events, we specialize in providing everything you’ll need in terms of tables, chairs, linens, lighting, décor, catering equipment, and more! We love to highlight the barn’s rustic character with our wood wine barrels, long farm tables, driftwood x-back chairs, and iron lanterns. Outside, one of our many tent styles can extend your reception space beyond the barn’s walls. The addition of bistro lights and colorful uplighting will keep the party outdoors going even after the sunsets.
